His next thought was Sonic , which is a fast food restaurant that uses car hops. It's a tipped job, which is what he was looking for. We were driving to the grocery store that evening and he saw Red Robin and decided he was going to check there, first.
He went home, printed out Red Robin's application and filled it out. The next day, I had to go to Target, so I had Riley drop the other boys and I off at Target and then he went to see if he could talk to a manager at Red Robin. He came back to Target fairly quickly, so I thought they also turned him down because of his football schedule, but they didn't! He said that he had to go back in at 1 PM the next day and follow one of the busboys around for a little while to see if he liked the job. He was SO excited! To end this long story....he got the job!
He started yesterday and is also there today for his last day of training. Here he is before leaving for work (it makes my stomach churn to say that my oldest son is at work!).
Doesn't he look adorable??? I may be biased, but I think he looks so cute with his little uniform on. Oh, and just so you know, I had to work hard to get him to smile. He did not want me to take his picture for this blog. I don't know why...teenaged boys are weird that way. Anyways, I got him to smile and I think he looks really cute. :) :) :)
So, this is the job he'll remember for the rest of his life. I remember my first job. I got it when I was 16 and worked with my friend, Stacy. It was at a place called Showbiz Pizza Place and it's now called Chuck E. Cheese! I didn't know they were affiliated until I looked for pictures of Showbiz Pizza. Anyways, we had to dress up like Billy Bob the bear for children's birthday parties. One of us would be Billy Bob and the other one would be the hostess for the party. It was so much fun!
The costume was good because you know how teenaged girls get the giggles? Well, since we weren't able to see each other's faces, we didn't get the giggles....like the time when we both worked at Walgreens together and were both cashiers. Stacy was across the aisle from me at the other cash register when 2 African American guys came up to my register with a basket full of makeup. They looked like something you would have seen in Prince's Purple Rain. Seriously. I thought I was going to lose it. I took one look at Stacy and she was behind them, doubled over laughing!! I had to keep coughing in order to stifle my laughter. I thought I'd NEVER get to the last package of makeup! I needed to hurry up and get them out of there....I couldn't look at Stacy. I couldn't believe she was doing that to me! It was pure agony!
Anyways, so back to Showbiz Pizza. Here is a picture of The Billy Bob Costume. (Hint: Click on the link....the blue words...to see the pic.) The best part of the job? We would eat the leftover chocolate cake when the party was over! We'd clean up the party and sneak the untouched chocolate cake into the closet where we changed into the costume and we'd sneak in there for bites. It was going into the trash anyways, so it wasn't like we were stealing, you know. It sure was a fun job, though
