I had a difficult time coming up with a title to this post. Here are some of the other options:
Busy Busy (which is what we tell our dog to do when he does his "business")
I'm Pooped!
What Was I Thinking??
A Moment of Weakness
Lord, Help Me!
Why Me??
Calgon! Take Me Away!
THAT #&@^*&$ DOG!
@*% *$ @ $^*$%!!!!!
I decided to go with something a bit more positive because I thought it might be a better idea to think of this positively. You know how when something bad happens to you, your family and friends tell you, "You'll look back on this one day and laugh." I'm counting on looking back on this time of my life with laughter and happy memories, so a positive title it is!
The day was going pretty well. Oscar was napping and I was sitting and reading a book to Jack. Riley was at work and Reeve and Braedy had some friends over and were happily playing.
Then, it all went downhill. I don't know how it happened or what started it, but it went downhill faster than a 500 pound man sledding on slick ice.
I was sitting and reading a book to Jack when Oscar awoke from his nap. I got up and went into my room to get him and he was sitting up in bed with a big smile on his face. I went in to take his diaper off and thought I'd sit him on the potty (because he always pees right when he wakes up), when Braedy's friend walked into my bathroom and said, "Miss Rhinehart?" (GAG) "Um, the dog is pooping in the game room." UGH!!!
Jack had, also, come into the room and was crying because I hadn't finished his book.
I picked up Oscar and walked quickly out of the bedroom. I set him down and ran up the stairs to yell at the dog and get him outside. I took him outside and shut the door, swearing at him under my breath, of course.
I went back to get Oscar and to put a diaper on him when I noticed that he was playing with something on the floor underneath him. AAAUUUGGGHHH!!! In my haste to stop the dog from pooping on the carpet (and I was too late, by the way), I had not put a diaper on Oscar and he proceeded to poop all over the rug in the entryway....the wool rug that is not washable. Bad Mommy.
So, I picked him up and took him to the bathtub (with Jack still behind me, crying) to clean off his hands and feet that had all been smooshed into his excrement (I contemplated taking a picture, but figured you'd all appreciate it if I didn't.). Then, of course, I had to clean and sanitize the bathtub. Yes, I always wanted 6 children.
To top things off....yesterday, in a moment of weakness, my lovely children talked me into adopting an orphaned kitten. Yes, I was going to let them adopt an orphaned kitten. Unfortunately, it was a really big moment of weakness and I let them talk me into adopting TWO orphaned kittens.......that need to be bottle fed.......every 3-4 hours.......around the clock.
Thankfully, though (looking for the positive side of things, here)kkkksgtastgdgtgat7sg7tdsfatdgatda fdat6dfad6fas68da8 (<--------Jack decided to help me type this when I got up to get Oscar a drink of water.) Thankfully, though, the older boys all agreed to take care of them. "We'll get up in the middle of the night and feed them! We'll change the litterboxes! We'll do it ALL!" Those of you with older children know exactly how this goes.
I will say, though, that Reeve and Braedy each took a night shift at feeding them. I still didn't sleep very well last night, because I was waiting for one of them to come in and ask for help. They did it, though, and everything worked out just fine.
Here are some pictures of the kitties. There is a boy and a girl (although, the person who found them said they were all boys) and we think the boy's name will be Otto. We haven't come up with a name for the girl, yet (and I keep telling the boys that we may not keep both once they are weaned, so not to get too attached to her). They like the name Olive for her, so that's what they've been calling her.
Here's Otto:

Here's Olive:

They are cute, though.

Hooray for Reeve and Braedy!!! Good job, guys, for feeding those babies in the middle of the night. You are both such wonderful, caring people and I love you to the moon and back. I'm so proud that you love animals and are tender with them. There should be more people like you!
Love,
Nana
Love the kittens. I am not showing my kids. They will want them midnight feedings and all.
Sounds like you have been busy. Oh wait you are always busy : )
Good job to the boys for helping out! I remember when I was a kid and couldn't wait to grow up and have kids so I didn't have to take the garbage out anymore. Strangely, my kids never took out the garbage and I still do it! And I think it's too late for me to start over! (Not that I'd want to)
