The neighborhood kids had a great time on their first day without school, though. Just walking to their friends' houses was an adventure.
They didn't exaggerate too much.
They did have a great time, though and at least we didn't lose our power.

January's Ice Storm
We had a minor ice storm just a couple of weeks ago. It was minor by Minnesota standards, but the entire state of Oklahoma shut down for 3 days....THREE DAYS. I remember being a kid and listening intently to the radio or TV newstation, in hopes that I'd hear my school's name. I think I had 1 snow day during high school and I can't remember anything before that (not that I can remember much from high school....or even yesterday, for that matter!). The public schools were out for THREE DAYS. The 3rd day was a total joke because there wasn't even snow or ice on the ground at that point!
